the discussion of "vectorized" had to do with finding ways of mapping out regions around surface of the rock, as in topographic map, or diagrammatic simplification of its regions. we've looked at several examples of this over the course of the semester.
you have a printed version of one — the Stansfield paper here.
the vectorization (or topological sketch) would be of the rock, not the collage. the collaging would follow. using the contours/zones in that sketch.
of course, you should (and will) do what you want to do.
